I cannot say enough great things about having a first look! I love that the nerves of the day all go away once the couple gets to see each other before the ceremony! It also helped on Courtney and Rene’s wedding day because we got all of their family photos taken befroe the ceremony as well. It made it so much more fun for the couple to be able to go right from the ceremony to the reception and not have to worry about photos in between.
The Ceremony: My favorite part of Courtney and Rene’s wedding ceremony was when the priest asked for the rings. Instead of being tied to a ringbearer’s pillow or in a groomsman’s pocket, the groom had put the wedding rings in a ring pop package. It was so cute to see the bride’s awesome reaction to seeing her ring, a symbol of a lifetime together and a love that won’t end, come out of a fifity-cent candy wrapper. But that was totally this couple – they were fun-loving, laid back, and were enjoying a day all about them together.
The Reception: The bride danced with her grandfather and the toast he made for her was incredibly heart-felt. He told the story of having to take her to daycare for the first time when she was little and how hard that was on him to give his sweet granddaughter away. He then said that that’s exactly how he felt giving her away on her wedding day, but that he knew Rene was an upstanding guy who he knew he could trust her heart with. SO touching! And this group knew how to party! The dancefloor was packed and the special event dancemoves definitely came out!
